How To Feel Happy In Life

SMILE! It makes people wonder! Hello there! Today I would like to chat about life and happiness. My sister and I had a conversation the other day and this came up so I thought I would share it! This is something that so many people struggle with on a daily basis and I would like to offer a little advice and some suggestions on how to feel happy everyday!

Everything In Moderation Is How To Feel Happy!

This I cannot stress enough! Life has got to have balance! I am talking EVERYTHING that think, do, say, eat, and drink! Very similar to the ways of the world there is “Good” and “Bad” in every single thing! My sister asked me “Even happiness?” And indeed the answer is Yes! Every so often it is healthy for your body to cry! It detoxes and releases stress that has built up in your muscles.

Let’s start with our diets for example. My husband was having severe pain in is stomach so we went to see his doctor. We left feeling very frustrated! He was talking about diet and not really answering any questions. At the end of the appointment I said “So basically you’re saying everything in moderation?” His answer was “Wow, you’re pretty smart.” Not very happy about his response we left. After thinking about it for a few days it made sense, not only with diet, but with everything you do in life!

Food, Drink, And General Diet

Drink a soda, but then follow up with a glass of water. Have that greasy cheeseburger for lunch, but then a salad for dinner. It’s ok to eat a slice of cake or a couple of cookies after dinner, just don’t eat the whole cake or box of cookies! See what I’m saying here? Drink a beer or glass of wine at night, maybe even two! It’s when you have a six pack or entire bottle that you have over indulged!

Now with your brain! I strongly suggest using meditation and deep breathing! Just like with food we need to moderate everything that goes through our brains! It’s best to feel happy but if you’re sad it’s ok! Take a few deep breathes and think of the things that make you feel happy. I think of my family, nature, and pets when I’m feeling sad. Same thing goes for anger! If you struggle with controlling your emotions seek help from your doctor! If you are uncomfortable with that or do not have a doctor, this is a great place to find someone to help!

Finding Something To Do Helps You Feel Happy!

Stop staring at your phone or the TV! There are so many ways to pump endorphins (your natural feel good chemical) and keep your body feeling happy! Singing, humming, whistling, and dancing are great and free ways to feel happy! Doing these things with your kids will most definitely keep everyone in a good mood and keep the kids from bickering with each other! Even if you are singing and dancing to fun songs like the ABC’s!

Going Outside!

This is so very important! Sunshine is one of three things that every living thing has got to have to survive! Did you know that sunshine gives your body Vitamin D, helps your muscles, protects against inflammation, lowers blood pressure, and most importantly improves your brain functions, and helps you feel better on a bad day! If you have a dog go outside with them and throw a ball or stick. You and your pet will feel great when you return inside!

Read a great book!

Here you can get any book that you want! My daughter loves the Wings Of Fire Series! She will immerse herself into these great books and is always smiling as she reads! This is also a great way to keep your brain healthy! If you have small children they will most definitely benefit from you reading aloud! Even if they don’t really understand what is going on, it will help to develop their growing minds. In addition this will help your kids to have great imagination!

Get Active!

Working out, walking, dancing, and running also help to pump those endorphins! When you get up and move it will help to improve your mood! It only takes a few minutes to turn your sad into happy if you move your body! I am not a super fan of traditional work outs so I choose to dance and I love yoga! This form of working out helps your mind and body all at the same time. Deep breathing and stretching will start and finish your workout keeping you feeling fresh and refreshed! I also love that slower pace of this! Indeed your kids will also benefit from this!

Fake It Till You Make It!

Did you know that you can “trick” your mind into feeling happy? It is so simple!! Anytime that you are feeling sad put a giant fake smile on your face and force it to stay for 30 seconds! This simple thing will instantly improve your mood! I also have discovered that looking yourself in the mirror and telling yourself “I love you” “I’m proud of you” You are amazing” “You are full of life” “You are spreading happy today” Simple little phrases will put it into your head as well as the universe and it will happen!
